When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

This birthday photoshoot was the last straw for my trusty, twelve-year-old Canon Rebel.
Sure, it was definitely showing signs of its age, and the auto focus no longer worked, but I didn’t know that this would be it!
My camera’s final project 🕊
Let’s rewind for a minute.

I reused my Christmas dress, because 1. I have a washing machine, 2. it looked like the perfect fruity picnic dress, and 3. it’s so cute and I haven’t had a chance to actually wear it anywhere yet
It’s official: winter is here and Christmas is almost upon us! And believe it or not, I’ve watched almost all of my favorite Christmas movies, and I’m done making gifts. Done making gifts before the last hours of Christmas Eve, truly a miracle.
Under our tree is looking full this year, and the tree itself has a total of five strands of Christmas lights wrapped around it. At night it absolutely glows, and Dad has said on multiple occasions that it looks like it belongs in a movie.
I’m working on using every last day to post Christmas content on my YouTube page, because this seasonal aesthetic must be taken full advantage of!

The spring weather took its sweet time arriving this year (as predicted by Punxsutawney Phil), but with a slight upward trend in the temps, the peepers have taken up their spring song, the flowers have popped up overnight (literally), and we caught the first glimpse of our resident groundhog when she crawled out from under the barn for a drink of water.

I’d love to add some more crocus colors to the garden at some point, since we currently only have dark purple, and light purple ones
