Halloween…?
Ahh yes, the holiday that people try to tell me I must celebrate before I’m allowed to put up my Christmas lights.
What a ridiculous notion 🤭

the true Halloween magic is that my camera placement was so perfect that you cannot see the piles of junk just over the stonewall in the neighbors’ yard *chef’s kiss*
Especially for a person, like me, who lives on a non-trick-or-treating street, has no kids to dress up (y’all know that if I did have kids their costumes would be incredible), and no friends who throw Halloween parties.
What are people asking me to do exactly…sit at home in darkness until the clock strikes midnight on November 1st!?
Bah!
As if!

a few hundred years ago I would’ve been burned at the stake for this photo — because nobody can prove that I wasn’t actually making this pumpkin levitate
My family and I have talked about this on numerous occasions; mostly after someone has had the audacity to exasperatedly say but what about Halloween!? (which is often spoken more like an accusing declaration than an actual question).
We’ve come to the conclusion that saying you cannot enjoy multiple separate holidays at once is like saying you cannot enjoy having multiple separate delicious foods on your plate at the same time.
Does having a pile of salty roasted potatoes mean that you cannot also enjoy the (vegan) sausage patties drizzled with maple syrup right next to them?
Come on, people. Let’s not be ridiculous.

what can I say…Pinterest has me in a chokehold
Life is short, and there are a million actually important things to be upset about in this world, and the dilemma of when to put up your Christmas tree isn’t one of them.
So in October I visited my local orchard, I carved my cute lil pumpkin, I took these festive photos, and I watched Practical Magic (for, surprisingly, the first time).
And I did this all while my Christmas tree was glowing in the other room, bringing me much joy.

I’ve also watched a few Christmas movies. Because, really, why not?
It’s honestly been great.
The days are getting dramatically shorter and colder here, and everyone should really make sure to find light and warmth everywhere and anywhere they can ✨
Is Halloween my favorite holiday? Nah. Y’all know I’m a Christmas girlie at heart. But you cannot tell me that I’m a Halloween hater when I literally chopped off my own head for this photoshoot.
That’s called dedication ☝🏼🤨

I also obviously carved out my eyes as well…I was all in
