beaver skull art

A new addition has been added to my…skull wall. Which yes, sounds like a strange thing to have in a bedroom that has pink walls, and white furniture trimmed with gold.

But you know what? I’m pretty sure I pull this vibe off perfectly.

Because floral skulls, y’all.

With gold teeth.

The vibes are impeccable.

My grampa had been on the lookout for a roadkill beaver, since he really wanted me to add this skull to my collection. I didn’t believe he’d find one (or, at least, not so quickly), but leave it to my grampa.

I got the surprise text one morning that he’d come home with some extra cargo.

Even though we have beavers everywhere around here, you hardly ever see them. You see their lodges, their dams, the ponds they create, and the damage they do to all the trees around the water’s edge — but you hardly ever spot the actual beavers. So I was quite surprised to see the sheer mass of this guy.

This beaver was the same beaver that first attracted Little John the bear into our yard, and then gave Riley Mae enough vulture photos to make a banger YouTube short (please enjoy how utterly ridiculous I look in the video, and how 54k people have seen how utterly ridiculous I look in the video).

Everyone in Riley Mae’s YouTube comment section is of the full belief that Grampa gifted this poor deceased semiaquatic rodent to Riley Mae specifically for her bird content.

Apparently my reputation does not proceed me, because those silly people don’t know about my weird fascination with skulls, and my every-growing collection of them, and how I have multiple people who now carry supplies in the back of their cars in case they need to pick up particularly interesting roadkill for me ☝🏼🤓

Listen, I’m not a serial killer.

I’m just a girl with interests.

I’m glad that I decided to make the deer skull, coyote skull, and beaver skull all match in their color palettes, because I think it all just looks *chef’s kiss*

Anyways, I was originally planning to make a video of this project, but the thought of that process was too overwhelming and so I kept putting the whole project off.

Eventually I realized that I’d really just love to do this project and enjoy it, rather than force myself to make some kind of video content of it (although y’all know that the video would’ve been aesthetic as hell), so you now just get photos instead.

And the photos certainly don’t do the shimmery gold accents justice ✨
