February was a really happy and fun month for me.
There was a ton of creativity, inspiration, exciting news, and talking to good people.
Although the winter blues have definitely been a problem for me in the past, I’ve thoroughly and completely enjoyed these cold months this year. I don’t think I’m ready for the world to get loud and active again as the weather warms up, but the first little snowdrop greens poking out of the frozen ground have definitely made me excited 🤍

(top left) February 10th, the nearly-full moon; (top right) February 28th, many evenings have been spent sewing and watching old episodes of Sex and The City; (bottom) February 25th, a juvenile hawk hung out in our yard for a while, Riley Mae identified it as a red-shouldered, and also got some photos of her own
Despite the temps dropping dramatically over the past couple of days, we did get a brief taste of spring recently, which should be returning later this week. I’ve slept with the window above my bed cracked open all winter long, but now I wake up to birdsong. The light has definitely been changing, and although nesting time is still a ways off: the bluebirds have already claimed one of our birdhouses.
I’ve been spending many evenings at my sewing machine; not only did I finally finish my butterfly quilt, I’ve also been using up some of my fabric stash by creating new sweaters and lots of tote bags (pictures will eventually be posted).

I got some great mail last month; February 7th was especially fun when it brought two pieces of mail from two Canadian friends. One package contained these beautiful little birds that were created by my friend; they’re made out of recycled birch wood that he got from a local theater’s dismantled set, which just adds to the perfection of the gift
I finally decided to just spend the money and get glass domes for all of my little precious skulls so that as I paint each one they can stay protected.
My coyote skull is so close to being ready to paint, and I’m super excited to be able to hang it up next to my doe 🌸

I must say that I feel like making a 60-second wrap of each month is making the months fly by even faster than usual, but it certainly is fun.
Now that the shortest month of the year is over, we’re officially into my birthday month — the annual spring flock of robins have arrived early this year, but I’m still waiting on the crocuses to appear in time for my day 🤍
