lounge pants (with pockets)

I’ve finally taken the time to master sewing internal pockets into pants.

I don’t know why I waited so long to try this, because it was incredibly easy, and it really would’ve come in handy many times in the past.

But oh well, I can now add this to my resume.

I did a nice double seam on my back pockets, and to make the corners clean and neat I used this sewing hack and it worked perfectly!! So excited to use this for every corner ever

Recently I put together a pattern for some lounge pants, and so I decided to draw up a pattern for some pockets to add to them, which really completed the whole project.

I’ve now sewn a couple pairs of pants out of some thick tablecloths that I was given (you’ve really gotta see the potential in things!), and they’re super comfy and cozy.

I used 2″ elastic for the waistband (for max comfort), and sewed four evenly-spaced vertical seams to keep the elastic from twisting, and to keep the fabric from unevenly bunching

Next I’ll need to make a few pairs of comfy shorts for the warmer weather, with the same fit and pockets, although I’m waiting for the perfect fabric to come along to do that. I think I need some solid colors in the mix, but we’ll see what comes my way.

I obviously haven’t made it to the thrift shop lately, with my general lack of glowing vitality, but oh how I wish I could just go and buy every sheet, pillow case, and random scrap of fabric that I find there, without a single thought for my bank account!!

(if you’re one of those lucky people who finds themselves rolling in cash — or you simply just love me a lot — please feel free to help fund one of my many projects by clicking on my newly added “venmo” button on my blog. I will pay you back with fun content)

I made sure to make the pockets deep enough to fit my whole hand and/or phone into, because if we’re gonna have pockets, they better be functional and useful

And on the subject of clothing: I’ve been cleaning out my room and closet (because one must do that when they run out of clothes hangers), and I decided to start a Poshmark closet to make a little bit of random cash by selling some clothes and shoes that I’m ready to part ways with.

Check it out if you typically fit in a women’s size S or M!

it turns out that a tablecloth is the perfect size to make a pair of lounge pants; I had only tiny scraps left over when I was done!
