Girl culture™ is posting cute pictures that you took a week ago while you’re currently looking like something that crawled out of the trash ✌🏼 I’ve started to sleep better again at night, but if this persistent cough doesn’t go away soon, I’m going to cry.
I’ve been so brave about it, but I’m just a girl.
All in all, last year’s Valentine’s Day was much more spectacular than this one, with me and Mom collaborating on a pink strawberry + vanilla cake, and with us having the time and money to put together some cute little Valentine’s goodie baskets (remember them?? They were cute).

This year we were all gifted a pre-Valentine’s Day snow day, so we had our cake yesterday, while everyone was home from work.
So really, today hasn’t been anything too special, especially since I’m just trying not to cough up a lung.
yikes

In last year’s Valentine’s Day post I joked that the good lord gave us such a fun Valentine’s Day to mark the last year I’d spend the holiday single, but the joke’s on me, because this is the first year that I’ve chosen to be single for it.

Riley Mae and I are back to joking about happily ending up as Miss Mamie and Miss Emily Baldwin, because who are we if we’re not part of The Waltons?
But you know what they say about jokes: there’s always a bit of truth behind them.

Anyways, I cut out all of these hearts and stuck them to the wall for the Valentine’s shoot, plus I also cut 6+ inches off my hair.
The latter wasn’t specifically for the shoot, it was just cause ya girl was feeling dragged down, and there was just no breathing any more life back into my dead ends.

I was way more attached to the thought of having super-long hair than I actually was to how having it made me look or feel, so I went into the bathroom with a pair of scissors and started cutting.
It did a pretty good job of bringing my waves back to life, although I may still go back and add a bit more layering around the face. I just don’t want to make it hard to pull back…the same reason that I’ve refrained from adding bangs…so far.

Off topic, but in theme with the holiday’s color palette: I’m planning to paint my room a very light pink in the spring, because why not? It’ll go beautifully with all my white frames and floral mirror hanging on my walls, and it’s been a hot minute since my room has gotten a fresh coat of paint.
(plus I just recently got an adorable thrifted nightstand which will be getting the white paint + floral treatment as soon as my respiratory issues clear up)
Happy Heart Day ❤
