I’m an idiot.
Listen, I’ve been altering, sewing, and saving clothes for how many years now, and I only just realized that I can easily (eas·i·ly) turn an awkward sweater into an adorable cropped sweater.
Why have I not done this before?? I feel like there have been multiple cute sweaters in my past that I could have saved with this method.

It’s a tale as old as time: I saw her at the thrift shop and I fell in love with the buttery yellow, 100% cotton yarn. Aside from her awkward length (and one loose thread in the cuff that I easily mended), she was perfect. So I bought her, cause I knew I’d just figure something out later to fix her up.
The solution was so simple I want to cry.
I just cut the sweater to the desired length (approx. 17″), cut the cute lil hem off, and reattached the hem onto the sweater.
That’s it.

I mean, it is knit, so I made sure to do a double seam and finish it off with a zigzag stitch on the raw edge (aka a poor-person’s serger stitch) to stop any yarn from pulling loose, but that’s it. And now it’s hella cute and super cozy and then I proceeded to crop three more of my sweaters because it’s perfect.
I definitely don’t need more sweaters at this point, but like…I should keep experimenting, right?

I don’t have to dress up as anything for Halloween this year. Because I dress up every day.
As wife material.
