Looking like a baddie, but my bumper sticker gives me away 🖤
(9.5 years of driving, and what has changed?)
I spent most of Saturday at my sewing machine altering my latest thrifted finds. It’s amazing what a few darts, tucks, and carefully-placed seams can do to an outfit. Also, how did I go so long before realizing that I can alter the length and fit of any sweater!?
(more on that in a later post)

The other day I had to go to the post office and I ran into some crazy road work on the way there, so I used the excuse of taking a different route home to stop at the thrift shop.
Convenient, I know.
I originally needed to go to see if they had a very specifically-sized basket for a specifically-sized project (unfortunately, they did not), but instead I ended up restocking my sweater collection. Because it’s autumn. Mom’s fresh batch of cinnamon applesauce says so. The first fire of the season says so. The 10-day forecast that doesn’t get above 70 degrees says so.
(and I paid for all my sweaters with cold, hard cash — which means that they were basically free #girlmath)

My thrifting rule: I don’t generally settle for anything less than 90% cotton (unless I’m looking for something super specific that isn’t typically cotton, of course (e.g. a fancy dress or winter jacket).
Most things out there are polyester now, and though they may look cute for a hot second, they pill/stretch/wear down way too quickly and generally (in my experience anyway) end up looking like crap at the end of one season. Plus…it’s nice to not wear plastic all the time.
Anyways, I ran into some other pretty thrift girlies there, and the cashier told me that my hair was cute. So, an all-around success, I’d say. Stay tuned for some sweater alterations ✌🏻
